“I have been taking Essentrics® classes with Diane for 8 months now. I have found it one of the most beneficial techniques ever for strengthening, flexibility, overall body tone and pain relief.
I have a lot of osteoarthritis throughout my body, but most troublesome in low back, hips and shoulders. I have found great relief through the lengthening and strengthening of my low back and core, and relief of hip pain with greater mobility through the hip rotations and leg stretches. Diane is very good at tailoring class to our needs, cautioning us when one has a specific problem, and challenging us to perform each position and move correctly. I think her extensive background in ballet also has given her a very good understanding of body and muscle function. Each class involves working of all the muscles and joints in the body, but the variety and flow keep each class interesting. I
am learning so much from Diane and feel so much stronger and more fit. My posture has improved when I walk, and my body awareness helps me to move more functionally.

“In praise of Diane Jacobowitz’s Essentrics® classes: A few years ago I had the opportunity, while visiting Brooklyn, to take a couple of classes from Diane.
I loved the flow, and the idea to connect, for example, my legs to my core to my back to my shoulders. It was something we should all know, but frequently do not. This last 18 months has given me the opportunity to take Essentrics® more regularly, via zoom. While zoom is not ideal, it has been a way for me to get a better understanding of what essentrics means and how to incorporate it in my life. It is stress-relieving after sitting on the computer all week, and I look forward to my Friday classes.
